Community Work
Our 50+
We provide specialized chess programs tailored for the 50+ age community. Recognising the importance of mental agility and cognitive exercise as we age, our sessions are designed to challenge and stimulate the mind while also providing a social avenue.
Estates and Park Chess
In a bid to make chess more accessible and bring communities together, we set up chess stations in local estates and parks. These gatherings not only promote the game but also encourage neighbourhood interactions, facilitating community bonding. Playing in the open air adds a refreshing twist to the traditional indoor setting, making it a delightful experience for both new and seasoned players.
Refugees
Understanding the challenges faced by refugees, we organize dedicated chess sessions to serve as both an educational tool and a therapeutic escape. Beyond teaching the game, these sessions offer a welcoming space where refugees can connect with one another, share stories, and integrate into their new communities. The universal language of chess bridges cultural divides, fostering understanding and friendship.
Young Offenders
Our unique chess programs for young offenders aim to introduce them to the world of strategy, patience, and consequence. Through the lens of chess, participants learn the importance of planning, foreseeing consequences, and making informed decisions. The sense of accomplishment from mastering the game can inspire these young individuals to channel their energies positively and envision brighter futures for themselves.
Afro Caribbean Chess Group
Deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of London's multicultural scene, this group celebrates the Afro Caribbean heritage through the timeless game of chess. Open to enthusiasts of all levels, it offers a unique space for members to connect, share stories, and revel in the shared rhythms of culture and strategy. Whether you're new to the capital, a seasoned Londoner, or simply seeking camaraderie over the chessboard, join us and weave your move into the dynamic legacy of Afro Caribbean brilliance in London. All are welcome in this celebration of heritage, community, and chess.
LGBTQ+
Embracing diversity is at the heart of our chess programmes tailored for the LGBTQIA+ community. Our sessions provide a safe and inclusive space for members to be themselves, connect with like-minded individuals, and indulge in the joys of chess. Beyond the game, these gatherings are a testament to our commitment to fostering an environment of acceptance, understanding, and mutual respect.
